Please join us at our Annual Spring Dinner
Wednesday, April 2, 2008 6 pm at Villa Lombardi's in Holbrook

Dear Friends,

Remember when a Democrat candidate in Suffolk was as good as unelectable? I do. But in the past few years, we have turned this county around. The results of 2007 have shown that we will continue to make gains throughout the county.

With Steve Levy's popularity at the top of the ticket, we won the County Executive's race before it even started. Our great county executive was so popular with the Republicans that they even borrowed him to run as their candidate. That left Steve with time to campaign for our terrific County Legislative candidates, including Brian Beedenbender, a 26 year old Centereach resident who personally knocked on more than 9,000 doors and was elected to represent the Fourth Legislative District.

We reelected all of our incumbents to the County Legislature, including Kate Browning, Vivian Viloria-Fisher, Jack Eddington, Ricardo Montano, Wayne Horsley, Elie Mystal, Steven Stern, Lou D'Amaro, Jon Cooper, and our wonderful Presiding Officer, Bill Lindsay. Voters across the county are clearly pleased with the job we Democrats are doing in government.

I am also pleased by the results the Democratic Party amassed on the town level. For the first time ever, we have a Democratic majority on the Islip Town Board. Twenty years ago, just getting someone to register as a Democrat in Islip was an achievement. But now we have reelected Supervisor Phil Nolan and elected Democratic Councilmen John Edwards and Gene Parrington.

For the first time in history, voters in Brookhaven reelected a Democratic supervisor. Joining Brookhaven's Brian Foley are newly elected or reelected Democratic supervisors Bill McGintee in East Hampton, Phil Cardinale in Riverhead, and Jim Dougherty in Shelter Island. Seven of Suffolk's ten towns are led by Democratic supervisors!

We had a great 2007, and now we turn our attention to an exciting 2008. If you are interested in joining us, please call (631) 439-0400.

Democratically yours,

Rich
